03. From the Head of Secondary

Secondary News

To all Year 7 Parents you have made it!

As the year draws to a close, I was thinking of all our Year 7 parents who have just had their first experience of Secondary school.  It is hard to believe that the first year, often the one that you worry about the most, is coming to an end!  It has been a great year for your children at school and in a few weeks they will be in Year 8 as ECP begins.....

Report Writing Day - Friday 13 November.

No Students attend school on this day.

04. From the Primary Coordinator

Primary News

Our Primary Concert was held last Wednesday.  With the superb backdrop of rolling hills, huge swaying gums and an exquisite sunset, the audience was treated to many fine performances.  It was at times simply breathtaking.  I often marvel at the talent that is consistently displayed by the children of Ivanhoe Grammar.  Congratulations must go to Ms Debra Carman and the Music department who organised such an event.

06. From the Music Department

2010 Musical - The Boyfriend

Auditions for “The Boyfriend” will be on Wednesday 18 November during Change-Over Week in the MPB.  They will begin at 11.00am until around 1.00pm, and students will be auditioned in groups of 6-8, to sing and act.  Please look at the list of names, groups and specific times on The Music Notice Board.

Call backs for lead roles will be after lunch.  They may then go home if not needed for the afternoon.

Students are asked to bring “something to do” as they wait, as classes won’t be running.

All other auditions, ie for Chorus, will be later in ECP.

Any queries please telephone Mrs Swain on 9490 3874.

Thank you   -    Mrs Swain (Producer)

10. From IT Services

Notebook Information Evening

Each year IT Services holds a Notebook Information Evening to inform our parents about the School Notebook Program; a notebook computer is a compulsory requirement for every student in Years 5 to 12.

  • Parents with children in Year 4 will receive a letter inviting them to attend the Primary evening which will take place on Wednesday 18 November at 6.15pm in the Creative Arts Centre
  • Parents with children in Year 6 or whose current notebook will be out of warranty in January will receive a letter inviting them to attend the Secondary evening which will take place on Wednesday 18 November 7.30pm in the Creative Arts Centre

This year we are again pleased to be offering a smaller notebook for our Primary Students and a Tablet PC for our Secondary Students as our preferred notebook models, both loaded with Microsoft Windows 7.  We will explain the benefits of the service and insurance bundled with the notebooks.  We also explain the requirements for parents who might want to purchase outside the School Notebook Program.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Gavin May
